More reasons to schedule library instruction for your class

While students need the assistance of librarians, they don’t know they need it and don’t want to ask for it. A two-year ethnographic study conducted by some Illinois libraries showed that students often don’t have the preparation to conduct library research and that both librarians and teaching faculty over-estimate their need for a librarian’s assistance. Students don’t realize that reference librarians can assist them with their research. A summary of this study can be found in today’s edition of Inside Higher Ed.
