Olson Library Acquires Early English Books

The Olson Library recently acquired more of the Early English Books on microfilm. As you may know, we have owned some of the microfilmed documents from the Wing Short-Title Catalogue (1641-1700) for some time, and we now have all of it. We have also acquired the microfilmed documents from the Pollard and Redgrave Short-Title Catalogue (1475-1640). These documents cover any topic on which a book was published in England in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries, so if you are interested in the history of your field, these materials may be of interest to you. We hope that you will use them in your teaching as well as in your own research.

This collection will complement our microform collections of Early American Imprints and Landmarks of Science.

Mollie Freier will be doing a workshop on Monday, August 8, at 2:00 to show interested people how to locate items in the Early English Books collection and demonstrate the use of our new (as of last summer) microfilm scanners. We’ll be meeting near the microform cabinets (by the Reference Collection).
