The “One Book One Community” program was designed to get our campus and the community to come together and read and discuss in a variety of settings. This year is the tenth anniversary of the program. The selection for this year is Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan.
Clay is an out-of-work graphic designer who finds a job on the night shift at a San Francisco bookshop. Soon after, he and several high tech friends are engaged in a quest to solve a centuries-old mystery involving codes, a medieval typeface, and the search for immortality. Mr. Penumbra’s is a fun and magical book wherein friendship, perseverance, intelligence, imagination and Google optimistically link old and new technology and speak to our desire for permanence in the digital age. For more information on the series and event, go to NMU’s One Book, One Community page.
Olson Library has three copies of Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore available at the Public Services Desk for a one week check out. Make sure you bring your NMU ID. You can’t check out books without it.
