The 2015 Diversity Common Reader book is Dr. Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass: Indigenous Wisdom, Scientific Knowledge, and the Teachings of Plants.
The Diversity Common Reader Program is a semester-long initiative focused on embracing diversity by exposing a new cultural or ethnic idea at a campus-wide level. Various campus events are planned this semester including a visit by the author in March as well as writing and art contests. The Olson Library has four copies of the book at the circulation desk (two-week loan), an ebook version, and a limited number of circulating complementary copies near the west entrance to the library. There will be a Book Launch Event, January 23 from 1:00 to 3:00 in the Hedgcock Atrium, with complementary copies of the book available also (limited quantities). Visit the Diversity Common Reader Program web site for the latest information on events related to this book.
