Federal Government Shutdown: Impacts on Research

The current shutdown of the federal government has resulted in many, many agency websites closing up shop for the duration. If you’ve tried to visit the United States Geological Survey or the American Memory Project from the Library of Congress, you’ve seen the announcement.  Other agencies have posted notices that they will not be able to update their websites or respond to your questions in a timely manner (if at all).

The Sunlight Foundation has posted in their blog about what happens to .gov in a shutdown, and the Washington Post has a lengthy post about government in general.

Hopefully this impasse is settled soon.
